19793rdtimes a charm

Building my 3rd c10, hopefully i can finish this one and not be convinced to sell it.
plans are to 4.8LS swap it possible 700r4/4L60e( unsure at this time)
air bags Detroit steel wheels. redo interior make short bed and change front end to a later year i had the side markers standing up and down on the fenders

Ive already got the Detroit steel wheels( from an old project 1969 c10 suburban, my issue here is that the wheels are 6 lug and my truck is 5 lug.
if im not mistake i can just swap rear axles to an earlier c10 truck that is 6 lug.
Im more concern about the front, since spindles are different from 6 lug to 5 lug if im not mistaken also the ball joints are different from one older truck to newer truck, if anyone has any advice it would be awesome.

I have heard of people having the wheels redrilled for the correct bolt pattern. I am not sure if that is an option for you or not, but might be worth looking in to. As long as you are running some kind of center cap it will not be visible.

You might be able to use a 6 lug disc conversion setup from an earlier truck and use the appropriate spindle. I think the center will be too large to re drill the wheel and the hub/rotor too small for 6 lugs For the rear I think only later 70 was the same width, the earlier ones had a narrower housing

Re: 19793rdtimes a charm

ive done a good bit of searching and found that if you have a 1.25" rotor it will work with a 6 lug disk brake swap kit from an earlier truck. unfortunately i have a 1' rotor truck so now i have to order new spindles which is perfect because now i can get drop spindles

the rear ive thought about running wheel spacers/ adapters if i cant find an axle for around 100$ since that is the cost of the spacers i would need

73-87 4x4 rear axles are 6-lug.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: 19793rdtimes a charm

For my '82 Blazer converted to 2WD, I'm using DJM 3" drop spindles and CPP brake kit for 1.25" rotors, available in 6 lug.
Rear is a 14-bolt semi-floater from OBS 2500, also six lug.
Running 22" Escalade rims.

Re: 19793rdtimes a charm

well i ordered some goodies today.
3in drop springs from summit racing
2.5 in drop spindles from an ebay seller
6 lug rotors and new calipers with bearings etc etc,

gonna replace it all while im up front, i do need to ordered ball joints top and bottom both sides obviously and need to order a rear flip kit and notch since the truck already had 2 leaf springs removed im sure is gonna be lower than the 5in the flip kit calls for.

hope fully ill have picture updates before the end of the month, sad the truck hasnt moved from that parking spot at my work in about 6 months and yet i can go out there connect the battery throw some fuel in the carb and she starts right up after a couple tries.
