Question transmission kick down ?

i recently installed a 454 where a 350 used to be .
i had to use an adjustable throttle and tv cable bracket...

it needs a little adjustment so what are my options.
is there a specific distance that the clamp needs to be from the throttle for the Trans cable to work correctly...

its a th350 it just seems like it shifts too soon...

anyone know where i can get a bracket thats factory or stock..
the one from the SBC woulnt fit

oh and also, where can i get some good info on eddy carbs...like tuning changing metering rods...

i was also thinkin that i dont have enough CFM....im runnin an eddy 1406 w/elec choke. stock nothing done to it.....runnin with the air fuel mixture all the way out practically...

some tips or info would be sweet!

i dont think that the kick down cable is the problem of your shiftin to early. when i put my new carb on the kick down cable was too tight and i could never get it out of 1st gear. just un hook the cable to see if that solves your problem. i am sure summit www.summitracing.com or jegs www.jegs.com would have what your looking for.
about the eddy carb, i call there tech line and they were very helpful with jet/metering rod adjustments for my carb. a 1406 is a 600cfm, i would go up to a 750 or similar with a 454.

yeah dude,

i totally agree with the 750cfm that is a must very soon.

so your sayin that i should unhook the cable and drive it like that.
will it shift correctly? i thought the cable was there for vacuum purposes, but i'm sure im wrong! LOL

i'll mess with it this weekend

if anyone else has any ideas please chime in!

TIA!

there is a vacum line from the carb to the tranny for the vacum purposes. the kickdown cable is there tho down shift the transmission under hard acceleration.

When i get on my truck, it doesn't shift down very much, if this a TV/kickdown cable adjustment? if so, tighter or looser, it's an 87,350,700R4

Crank the screw on the modulator in a few turns that will make it hold the gear longer Or try making the kickdown tighter but the modulator will more than likley benifiet from tighening

The way i set my detent is i push the realese button then put the carb at wot and lock it in place then fine tune it by driving I used to run mine where it would downshift into first when i layed into it at around 30

I can lay into it at about 20 and sometimes it won't downshift. Just slowly rev up to speed.

Kickdown for a TH350 is self adjusting. Onthe top of the retaining collar it a peice that will pop up and release it. Do that . Push that peice down. Give it full throttle wit hthe gas peddle. It's done. No other adjustment on factory cable is possible.

The 700 the cable acts as a TPS. don't get them confused as they do totaly different things.

The above said. I have run into a problem on my 75 that either a PO install the wrang cable or the wrong mount bracket on the carb. The cable that's on it I cannot get the 4bbls to open.
