I am building a 66 short bed and have 3" drop spindles and 1" lowered springs for the front. I have 4" lowering springs for the rear but may need to do 5 or 6" springs in rear....I also have a C notch kit.

My question is: Do any of you lowered guys have issues with the rear tires hitting the rear wheel tubs while driving?

I will have to do a mini tub because my rear wheels are 305/30/22's and they are a little taller than the normal tire for this truck so that's why i'm concerned with bottoming out on the tubs.

My 285's with 4" of back spacing will hit when I roll into a parking lot or a hard tight corner when the axle rolls up into the wheel well. I have about 5/8" at ride. On the 65 I had with 305's and 5" of backspacing I was going to need to ad 2" to get the room i needed. I was going to use 2 sets of tubs to do it so I would only have one weld seam. I have a set of 1/4" wheel spacers to fix it just have not had time to put new longer wheel studs in it.

Those are close!

My concern is not the width because I am doing a mini tub. I'm wondering if the tire will be close enough tp the top of the wheel tub to bottom out while driving....potholes, bumps....etc.

In other words, will I need to Raise the wheel tub higher than stock inside the bed?

My truck has a 5/7" drop and I recently switched to 20's. Im running 245/40zr20 front and 285/35zr20 rear. I have 1" wheels spacers on the rear and had to roll the outside of fender lip to gain plenty of clearance. I seem to have plenty of top wheel tub clearance though. Never had any issues with bottoming out or anything.
