Rebuilt steering columns in SoCal

The steering column in my 83 has bit the dust, looking for a quality rebuilt in Cent or Socal area, or a reputable shop to rebuild it. Local dealer wants and arm or leg to repair, would be cheaper to replace, any info would be appreciated

Re: Rebuilt steering columns in SoCal

Collumns from most GM, and AMC cars and trucks, made from 1973 to 1984 should work with little to no modification. You have a huge variety of vehicles to take a steering collumn from. You can also use 1985 through 1994 GM collumns, but it would require that you relocate your wiper and bright switch. I would hit the junk yards, for this reason

Malo, look at a website called Waynes Steering Columns http://www.gmtiltsteeringcolumn.com/index.html

Price doesn't look to bad, I am going to order one for my 81 when it gets back from paint.

I used Wayne to rebuild the column in my 84. I couldn't be more impressed.

Great guy to deal with and is pretty good at keeping you up to date on your repair.

I bought a rebuilt 79-83 tilt/auto column from Wayne 2 years ago. Good product, reasonable price, and great phone support if you need it. You should should call him about rebuilding yours.
