DIY Soft top Bikini top

This may be specific to Blazers and if so I'll move it I do believe the question should be general enough for all to participate.

I'm making a soft bikini top (A top that just covers the front seats). I'm using a marine grade canvas and nylon webbing. It will attach above the windshield and wrap over the roll bar where the nylon straps will tie it down to the bed.

My question: "How would I go about attaching this top to the truck above the windshield?"

The traditional method is to drill and screw in snaps on the windshield header. There are several alternative ideas out there, though.

Re: DIY Soft top Bikini top

I made an aluminum piece that attaches to the original anchor points for the top to install my soft top. I can post a picture if needed and I have about 30 bucks into it. Took a little work, but I could make it better if I had my welder using sheet metal.

Re: DIY Soft top Bikini top

I bought mine at 4wparts for a Jeep. It has two aluminum channels that screw to the front windshield frame. The top has a stiff piece of plastic that is stitched into the front inside the material. You slip the stiff part into the channel (channel face toward front of truck) and then it flips over toward the rear and straps to the roll bar. It's a little thinner than I would like in width but I am going to just sew on some more material on the sides. Better than trying to come up with my own.

This does look like what I'd try to do. Thanks for sharing. Do you have additional images of this?
