Installing a Boyd's welding gas tank
I would like to do a shout out for Boyd's Welding , a really well built and Quality tank IMO.. Also their customer service was very prompt with dealing with a small problem with getting banged around during shipping.
Currently installing in a 1957 stepside and it fits wonderfully between the rails. There is a little bit of wiggle room from front to back, QUESTION--- Is there any advantage to installing more forward or back before I nail it down. Thanks JT from SC |

That looks great. I'd say that the exact front/back location is where it clears everything the best and where you filler connection works the best.
It's real nice to know that an outfit produces a good product and really supports that product.

I have a 1957 step side and will need one. Where did you get it and how much was it?

Re: Installing a Boyd's welding gas tank
Ordered the Boyd tank but haven't seen it yet. My tail pipes go straight out the back and the top of the tail pipe is 5 inches below the frame. How much clearance will I need, should I redirect the pipes behind the back wheels?

Re: Installing a Boyd's welding gas tank
Here is mine. Well worth the money. Also, a funny little side note. When I showed up to my new job in Afghanistan last year, I noticed our ground power unit we use to start our helicopters had a small. Boyd Welding fuel tank installed on it. Thing has seen nothing but, abuse for the past 5-6 years in all sorts of weather and still looks great.
