Low Buck Holes-Free Headliner - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I made this out of 1/2" foam wall insulation from Lowe's and 1 sq yd.of vinyl fabric from Walmart. Easy project. Simply cut the board to fit the roof inset and spray it with hi-tack. Then spray the fabric. Next, gently set fabric on board (glue to the white side because its tougher and you will need to lift and smooth the fabric. ) Then wrap it around the other side and glue the straights and tailor the corners. Next glue the corners and apply industrial strength Velcro stickies to the board spacing them so as to avoid the ribs in the roof panel. Then, go in the cab and stick it to the roof. Add more Velcro stickies as needed by peeling it down and reaching your arm in there. Then go for a drive and enjoy your new headliner.

Thanks guys, I sure hope it helps keep the roof cooler. It's been a scorcher around here. Btw this is the glue I used. Sticky stuff. I had to wipe my fingers with a gas rag just to keep things from sticking to them.

The fabric is a vinyl faced type with a synthetic material on the backside. As to if it's quieter... it's hard to say because the cab is pretty well sound deadened already. Although, a quick check with the temp laser did show the headliner to be 4 to 5 degrees cooler than the surrounding metal while cruising with the a/c on.

Thanks for the tip I need to do something. It was 99 in Burbank CA this Sunday and I drove the truck around a little. I was not able to touch the ceiling of the cab because it was too hot.
