1970 c10 just finished restoration and on the road.

The glove box spid shows it has heavy duty springs.
The stance is 2" higher in the back now.
I'd like to level the stance and possibly remove the heavy duty coils to a standard coil springs to improve the ride a bit. It's not too bad now but could be better.
I did convert it from a long bed to a short bed. Not sure if it comes into play or not. Where short and long bed springs different due to weight being less?

I just went through a lot of research on suspension for a 72 C10 swb. From what I found, the normal rake is to have the rear 2" higher for either heavy duty or normal suspension. I would think that the difference would be more in the diameter and spring rate than a height difference. Maybe shocks a little stiffer? As for SWB v. LWB, didn't see any differences.

If you are changing tires/wheels and want to adjust ride height, I can share what all the research came up with though this is the first truck I have done this with.

I haven't changed anything yet. I'm guessing they are original. Rides pretty good considering. I'd really like to level out the stance by lowering the back if possible.

You can use 2" lowering blocks on the rear and maintain the ride with your factory springs or buy 2" drop springs to level it out. Easypeasy.

The short wheel base wont ride as smooth as a long wheel base. The shorter the wheel base the more you will feel the bumps.

on this truck I put 3'' lowering springs on the rear and left the front stock.

I just put some 82 suburban 20 diesel front coils in a 71 c20 ,it raised the front about 1.5 inches ,the back is still higher than the front and sits level with a trailer hooked up ,it is a little harsher on the bumps now though ,on the road its not bad though .Truck has a 454 swapped from a 350 also so on a small block truck they may sit higher than my results . Running 265-70-17 tires on 17x8 rims
