59 Apache original engine & trans. Is there a market?

Hi All,

Is there a market for the original engine and trans for these old trucks? I have a 59 with the 235 (I think) and the original 3 speed trans. I am going with a small block and a 700r4 so have no need for the originals.

Is there a market, what are they worth?

thanks

you might find somebody lookin...but I'm betting there's just not much demand...stick it on cragslist and see what happens. ...
a buddy of mine had a complete smallblock in his shop just taking up space..he tried craigslist asking $500..a month later and not one call...he finally dropped it to $200 and another couple weeks went by before he finally sold it..

Virtually no market.

I've always gotten $500 for ones that ive sold. If you are familiar with the engine or check it out good & can honestly asure the buyer it is good it should bring that. If it is just a core, it will only be worth $100-200.

One of the biggest problems is the shipping cost .

So it kind of limits your market area to what someone is willing to drive to get it.

But the 235's are hard to find and most get scrapped because of that.

Keep you chin up and market it someone will want it .

Re: 59 Apache original engine & trans. Is there a market?

When I did my motor swap I had a good running 235 & 3spd trans w/ a new clutch. Put it on Craigslist while it was still in the truck and told people to come see & test drive it before I pulled it. I asked $750, got probably 20-30 calls, some were low ballers but it sold for $750. Thought maybe that was too cheap.

You could list it on Stovebolt Forum. There are still guys looking for a 235.
