Got the Q-Jet from Junkyard: Have MANY questions...

First off, I pulled this NICE Q-Jet off a 77 FullSize Chevy van with the 350/Th350 combo. The carb is untouched (by junkyard hands at least). My question is...it LOOKS like it's a MECHANICAL secondary...but I haven't seen a Q-Jet in a while. Am I missing anything, and if I am, what is it? Also, what kit should I get for the rebuild?
Here's the pics...

OK, I've deduced that I'm missing the Secondary throttle linkage. Also, the part # on the carb is 17056502, with 0706 AAD under it. Which I've found the carb to be off a 76 Chevy California Chassis. So, my carb is almost date correct! Nice!

Yep it's missing the air valve pulloff linkage. It's not a mechanical secondary. No Q-jets were. The air valves are what is controlled by vacuum.

Can't I make the linkage with a piece of metal coathanger or something?
I didn't THINK any Q-Jets were MS's, but it's been so long since I seen a QJet, I couldn't tell...Any recommendation on gasket/rebuild kit or anything? Also, can you tell me what vacuum ports are what, and what idle screws are what...

Not really. I would find one off another junkyard carb. We, (I) don't rig carbs around here. Must be a Cali thing.

As for the kit, just get one at Autozone or Advance etc. They are all pretty much the same. The float don't come with the kits. You will need to buy this seperate.

Can you show me a picture of the linkage, so I know what I'm looking for.
And, what KIND of QJet is this? 4MV or M4ME?

Here's the rod that is on my 1904. It's green. This is the one used if you only have a primary vacuum break, which yours looks to have.

As far as what type it is. Not sure. Looks sort of like a M4MC. It don't have any electrical connections going to it, right?

I betcha i have that linkage ive tore apart a biziillion q jets in the conquest for smaller jets and have since wound up with alot of parts.

If you build that carb ditch the hot air choke and put the electric there Ive done it before just plug that hole in the front and bolt the electric part down The outer housing will accept it just the same.
