drive shafts
I recently converted a truck from a manual to an automatic. My question is this. It origanaly had a two peice drive shaft in it. Well dummy me got a jack leg to shorten it so it would fit with the new transmission and he really messed it up. I am thinking about getting one made up, It will probabley be about 6 feet or a shy shorter than that.I really want to go back with a one peice drive shaft. Is this possible? Has anyone ever did a conversion like this and is there any help out there for me so I can once again be cruisin. Thanx a BUNCH!!!

Usually after a certain length a steel driveshaft will have to become a two piece driveshaft. Usually found on Longbeds.
But, there is a possible soultion. I just read about a company making a carbon fiber driveshaft so strong that it can replace a two piece driveshaft. Inland Empire Driveline even endorses it, and they're one of the best around. Here's their website : www.iedls.com Let me know what happens. |

you should be able to find a stock shaft of the length you need under a parts truck, just look and call around your town and area, someone you know may be parting one with the same drivetrain as yours. i may evben have one if you know how long fromt he axle yoke up to the end of the tranny tail housing as long as is not a th400
