OK folks, I need some knowledge!!!
...I've read, priced, thought, read, priced, thought, etc, ect...
My goal is to rod out my 54 panel. I've thought about replacing the rear, and installing a Mustang II IFS in the front but, that's a pricey goal (not to mentioned the mod's necessary). Just the IFS portion is around 1400 to 2000. For the cost, it's seems I could by a complete chassis, from a yard, of a later model vehicle and end up with the front and rear disks, rear and the whole schmere. The question is what will come close to fitting right? I need help and I'm ready to get the project going!!!

You might start checking S-10's.I have heard they make a great set-up for this era pick-ups.I don't know a bout wheel base.Of course you will still have to do the V-8 swap but they make the kits for S-10's.I do know it's a big job but you can probably get lots of info from someone who has done it to a Pick-up and save yourself a few$$$ and lots of time and mistakes.

Thanks for the feed back so far.
I'd seen bits and pieces about using S10 parts but, I assumed that the overall frame wouldn't be robust enough for the panel. The paperwork says the thing weighs 4800 lbs. Maybe it can handle it. Anyone else have any thoughts??

Ck out El Camino frame
You might check the 78-87 El Camino frames. I've seen a couple of street rod pickups with them.
