is this a good donor truck???????
I have a chance to buy a totaled truck for $1000. it was hit in the passenger side but still runs and drives.belongs to a friend and all ready has a salvage title which he cant find. its only good for parts. its a 2005 4 door chevy truck. it has a 5.3 and whatever automatic came with it. thought I would keep all I need to swap into a 69 c/10 and part the rest out to get some of my money back. I will get some pictures Saturday when I pick it up. ANY OPINIONS OR ADVICE IS APPRECIATED.

Sounds good to me. I parted out an 03 that was hit hard in the front . (not drivable ) I used the engine ,tranny, pcm , wiring harness , tac module and throttle petal . I made $900 off of what was left by selling parts on Craigs list. I gonna look for another one to power my 57 sedan.

depending upon how hard it is hit, i would fix it, sell it, make more money doing that than parting it out and buy another wreck to power your truck. otherwise your plan sounds good to me too.

Re: is this a good donor truck???????
Just for comparison I bought a 2002 5.3 last summer for $800, engine only. Markets may be a different in my area, but still comparable.
Be careful with the "lost title" thing, it may be hard to get rid of the body/frame without it. As long as you have the time, resources, patience, agreeable significant other/neighbors and space to part it out I would go for it. Just my 2 cents.

Chevy Trucks are tough. I rolled my 73 into the woods at 90+ mph and was able to drive it home. Slowly mind you but it still drove.
