The headlight knob is removed by pushing a button on the top of the switch. Reach up under the dash and on top of the switch assembly there is a little button. Push that down and the knob will pull right out. Remember your lights will stay on. To put it back in, just push the knob in, you don't have to push the button.
As for the ignition switch, I don't know.

when i pulled my ignition i had the same problem. find a paper clip. turn the key to acc and put the paperclip into the little hole next to the key hole. you will feel it push a button in. hold the paperclip in the hole with a little pressure then turn the key to the left. the barrel assy should come out. then you can remove the rest of the ignition. hope this helps

The headlight knob and stem are one piece, and it's usually a good idea to unhook the battery.
