Crate Motor - Manifold Question
Time has come for a new motor. I've got my parts list in order, but I'm confused by one thing... rams horn. Its my understanding that 2WD were angled and 4WD were straight. Mine is a 2WD angled currently mounted on a 307. I'm upgrading to 350 and I wanted to purchase a new set of Rams Horn, but all the parts lists I find state that the 350 uses the straight. I concerned about clearance issues.
Does anyone have any actual experience with this and what can you tell me?

Re: Crate Motor - Manifold Question
I've been looking for angled ones all evening, and as soon I post the question I finally find a set. RockAuto has two brands listed for a 350 that are angled. They are the Dormans, and ATP. Any opinions on the two?

Re: Crate Motor - Manifold Question
Your right, but way not reuse your old ones. You could have them sand blasted then paint them and they'll look brand new factory.

Re: Crate Motor - Manifold Question
I considered that, but I wasnt sure if there were be an issue with switching from my 307 to the 350. Its my daily driver and I really dont want any surprises when it comes time to do the swap.

Re: Crate Motor - Manifold Question
Is your engine mounted in the aft position? i.e. the two aft most holes in the frame rails for the engine stands.

Re: Crate Motor - Manifold Question
The reason I ask is because the angled manifolds will work for a SBC mounted in the forward or aft position (2wd or 4wd) The straight dump will work for just the aft position (4wd).
