12 bolt
Hi guys,
Ok , I'm looking for a 8.5 10 bolt for my 49 3100 , living in the uk this us not an easy task. However during my nightly Internet search I came across what was listed as a 12 bolt from a 1981 4x4 Chevy blazer with 2.73 gears. Would this be a viable rearend , not sure on its width yet and not bothered about its internals as I would have it rebuilt. I'm not sure if this is same as the super strong muscle car 12 bolt. Any advice is greatly appreciated Thanks |

Re: 12 bolt
check this out for track widths of a few cars. maybe find something close.
http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...l_measurements the pirate 4x4 site has a few things to check as well. they have write ups on the ls engine too. building tips for this and that, lots of good info. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/bible/index.html here is another 4x4 site that may have some info on track widths of more common diffs/cars http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/tr...rd-axle-guide/ here is a chart from the hamb https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...-chart.302774/ the ford 8.8 is also a diff to look at. they are pretty strong as well. the ranger station site has a bunch of info on those have fun, keep us posted. pics are the best. http://www.therangerstation.com/?s=8.8+diff |

Re: 12 bolt
an S10 4x4 diff may be a good alternative if you're not putting huge power in front of it. there are a couple of widths depending on if it is a ZR2 truck or not. some will come with rear disc brakes. maybe wanna grab the master cyl from that unit as well if that is the case. disc front and drum rear will have a different master than a disc front drum rear set up. or a drum front, drum rear set up. it would also make a difference if the master is on the frame or the firewall.
just info for you to check out on those lonely internet night shifts when you can't sleep, haha. |
