59- Hinge pillar repair(cage nuts)

I have to repair the hinge pillar and found the bottom patch panel with cage nuts. How are you guys repairing the top hinge mount on the pillar?
Can you get the cage nuts separate?. Hard to get to spot.

On my '55 3100 I just reach in and put regular nuts and washers in there. I mount the hinge before I mount the door.

Edit: After thinking about this, you might be talking about the nut that's visible inside the wheelwell. I made my own, like Ogre describes below. It's just a piece of 1/4" bar stock, drilled, tapped and dropped into the existing pocket.
