Unhappy Noise?

Hi all......In my 72 Blazer...at about 50 miles an hour...when I let off the pedal....I get a racket from the transfer case.....it's not a grinding.....but it is a hell of a racket...and vibration through my t-case shifter handle.....could it be the input bearing? This is in two wheel drive.....and I have a T350 tranny.....Thanks in advance.....

P.S. Keep our troops in your thoughts...they deserve it.

I would check the mount and the U-joints before tearing into the T-case, just to be sure its not something inexpensive and easy to replace.

My first guess would have been the u-joints too. Also check your t-case shifter linkages, they may be loose and rattling.

I would check the rear end pinion bearing, put in N with the park brake on and see if there is any slop up and down at the yoke. mine did the same thing on decel, the pinion nut had backed out

I agree w/ Smoke and Eric. I was having the same sound. I had about 1/2inch slop in the rearend in neutral. The noise was transfering up the driveline, making it sound like was coming from xfrcase.
