s475 mounting
Sorry if this is a dead horse but I have no idea how to mount this mammoth turbo. It just seems like a lot of weight hanging out there so I am hesistant to hang it off the heads alone, so far. I could go the flex method to frame but its not appealing to me. I also had up/forward headers but they come out so far the turbo would be into the front sheet metal.
I thought about some complex triangulated nonsense from the mount up to the head and then to turbo. This video keeps coming to my head but I cant tell how he did it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFHReLdWWpA Thoughts? |

Re: s475 mounting
Grab some smaller round stock (1/4-3/8) and use leftover bolt holes to make a mount/bracket. Stole the pic from StevesNovaSite

Re: s475 mounting

Re: s475 mounting
I mean if you have a free bolt hole on the block, I'm sure that would work just as well. The headers alone could potentially support it but I wouldn't want to put my exhaust hardware through that stress, let alone the nerves every time you hit a big bump. You can static mount it, but like you said, you'd need flex joints on the piping then to avoid fatigue cracking.

Re: s475 mounting
I made a bracket that comes off the head, and then a brace from the flange to a boss that I welded to the exhaust manifold. Been up and running for 3 summers now, and a lot has changed, but the mounting method has stayed the same and no issues.
