Re: 55-59 armrests

On my 57 there was two threaded holes in the door for original mounting location. I just had to drill the door panel to match. If you have the door panel off you can measure the mounting holes in the door.

Re: 55-59 armrests

Hello mongocanfly. I've had my truck for a bunch of years and put armrests in not to long ago. The door panels were not punched out for armrests but the door had captive nuts welded in place. To locate the holes on the panel I sharpened a couple of 1/4-20, put them in the door, put the door panel on with a few bolts to center the panel in place and tapped the panel with a hammer to get the exact location for the holes. Hope this helps.

Earl

Re: 55-59 armrests

I would e-mail the seller. Depending if they repo'd a car or truck armrest you never know what will come in the box . e-mail the seller . If they won't give you a measurement buy from someone else.

Re: 55-59 armrests

i did contact the seller of those I listed and all they do is sell parts...they had no clue what the hole spacing was...I mainly put those up as a reference pic

so 5 7/8"....thanks beast...my IH doors have a 7 1/4" hole spacing ...I found some nos but they want something like 300 each for them..and aftermarkets are about 50 each with no hardware or mounting brackets..so I was looking for something close that will work....I can make anything work if I have to...

Re: 55-59 armrests

The holes are on the back of the door panels. Be careful, after I mounted mine I didn't realize that my seat was rubbing again them when I pulled the seat forward. I cut the side of my seat.

Re: 55-59 armrests

I recently replaced the ones in my truck (old ones had cracked). Happen to have the old ones right here...holes are 5 7/8" apart.

I also recently figured out that the seat hits when leaning forward. Have to have both doors open to fold seat back forward.

Re: 55-59 armrests

If your door panels are not drilled for arm rest it is real easy to locate the area to drill the two holes if a template is not available. Get two screws that fit the threaded nut plates that hold arm rest in door, and cut the head of screws off to a point use a pliers to screw back in door nut sert. Reinstall door panel and with a slight tap with a hammer a make small dent from the two screws that have a point. This is were you will drill the door panels for spacing.
