Re: 65 -w zz4 to serpentine belt
I pulled a setup off a V6 (4.3L) out of a S10 (the 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L use the same system). If you are pulling this, make sure you get ALL of the bolts and studs that mount the system. Also bring a power steering pump pulley puller, as you have to remove the pulley to get to the bolts to remove the driver side bracket. Also tork sockets, unless you have some small 12 point sockets (I was able to do this, not having the tork ones on hand). I bought a new water pump and found a '92 Camaro 5.7L pump works (reverse rotation pump is required) great and put the heater hose connector pointing at the right angle. Also cut off the wiring plug for the alt. As for the power steering pump pressure fitting, you can swap out a non metric one from an old pump into this one. Then you can use standard hoses. Since I wasn't going to run A/C at the time, you can get a A/C delete pulley which will mount where the A/C compressor goes.
On older heads, you should drill and tap the extra mounting hole for the bracket. Some don't but I did. Not hard if you take your time. ![]() That's about it.

Re: 65 -w zz4 to serpentine belt
So only 2 bolts to hold on the bracket on that side.

Re: 65 -w zz4 to serpentine belt
I bolted the bracket up and used a transfer punch to center punch the head. Then unbolted the bracket, mounted my drill guide and centered the hole with my punch mark and tightened my guide. Then drilled the hole, using tape, to mark my bit, to figure out how deep (I used another hole to determine the depth) to drill.

Re: 65 -w zz4 to serpentine belt
No, there is a lower bolt used down by the crank but without the extra hole in the head, it is only held with 2 and it put some leverage to twist off the bracket. A/C compressor and tensioner is on that bracket.
Not a great pic but you can see how the bracket goes down on the pass side. ![]()

Re: 65 -w zz4 to serpentine belt
Just a question--Can you use a early power steering pump (bolt on pulley with key way) with this set up?

If you're worried about the hose connection at the pump, you can swap your high pressure connector in the pump over to the newer pump. I had to do this the other way, using an old pump with newer box.

Re: 65 -w zz4 to serpentine belt
They do make serp/pulley's keyed but as you said, don't know about offsets.
