Re: Wanted Stock rear end
Using an online calculator swapping the 3.90 to 3.38 in my 59 should drop the rpm at 60 mph from 2838 to 2460.

Re: Wanted Stock rear end
The search is back on for a rear. I guess the guy doesn't want to sell it. If anyone has one to sell please contact me.

Re: Wanted Stock rear end
Cool, I was going to say that they were used in 1/2 tons from 55-62. I'm sure there are others out there, Craigslist etc. I have seen them for free, maybe on the 55-59 or 60-66 Facebook page I think.

Re: Wanted Stock rear end
I decided to wait to change out the rear. The guy who is the local person who rebuilds the rears said its not a good idea. His price to rebuild it was over 1600. to rebuild and change out the ring and pinion with me installing it.

Re: Wanted Stock rear end
If your not worried about keeping it stock and just want to enjoy driving it, why not check into a different rear end? Or a different transmission? I have a five speed in my 66 and a 700r4 in my 58. A T5 (manual) would be perfect with the 235, a lot of guys are running that set up.

Re: Wanted Stock rear end
If you decide you want a stock rear end with 390's I may part with mine. Looks like I'm about 4hrs away from ya. PO did a full chassis restoration on the truck but I'm going a different direction so pretty much everything will be removed. PM me if u want pics as I currently have the bed off.

Re: Wanted Stock rear end
I already bought one in New Jersey last week. But Thank you If anyone knows if the flange is the same or different? I'm hoping it would bolt up to my drive shaft with no mods.
