Wilwwod pedal and master cyinder conversion.

With all new Wilwood brakes on our build the stock pedal had to go. not to mention how flat awful the stock pedal geometry is in our trucks. So here is how we solved several deficiencies.

Greg bought one of these

And a pair of these

Need a parking brake so Greg bought one of these from Lokar

Fairly straight forward.

1. map out where the peddle will need to be.

2. Locate the final height and lateral position of the master cylinders on the firewall.

3.Build the master cylinder "box"

4. Build the pedal structure, mount parking brake lever, fabricate mounting brackets

5.Stand back and admire your work.

Re: Wilwwod pedal and master cyinder conversion.

So on Saturday we built this;

This is the box needed to penetrate the firewall and provide the mount for the forward pedal face and the two master cylinders (Front and rear)

Once welded up we clamp it in place and scribe where to cut the firewall.

Then cut and place it to check what depth it needs to land

We tacked it in place and mocked up the pedal and M/C's

we will not be using the stock structure so we need to build a couple heavy receiver points that will allow us to bolt the new structure in.

These are two part with a heavy 3/8" base plate tapped for 1/4" x 20 bolts and the "feet" of the structure built out of 3/16" plate.

Re: Wilwwod pedal and master cyinder conversion.

These mounts are over built for a simple reason. failure could result in flex that allows the metal to "fatigue" and since Greg will be driving the heck out of this truck the brake pedal will get some force put into it.

Re: Wilwwod pedal and master cyinder conversion.

Here is the final product.

It is removable and we will be coating it with bed liner to both protect and hide it.
