Re: No crank help
Do you have a way to pull the codes?

Re: No crank help
Did you have the VATS disabled in the ECM?

Re: No crank help
Don't know about a scanner, but it is exhibiting what motors do when the VATS isn't deleted.
Before I pulled the ECM and had the VATS checked, I'd make sure I had a steady pressure on the fuel rail and make sure it isn't simply running out of fuel. |

Re: No crank help
There are codes for the passlock type VATS. Try your scanner and see what comes up

Re: No crank help
I'd put a gauge on the schrader valve on the fuel rail and watch what happens when you try to start it. I should stay pretty solid at about 57 or 58 psi. (IIRC) at all times.
If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge, most Autozones have them in their tool loan program |

Re: No crank help
Just to clear up a little confusion.
Assuming that you had the VATS deleted, it could be exhibiting the same symptoms if you were not pushing enough fuel to the rail and the pressure drooped out - bad pump, stuck regulator, whatever. I don't know if VATS turns off the fuel pump as part of the start denial - but I'd think it would. so you might want to put a test light to the fuel pump too and make sure it is continuously powered and it isn't VATS turning off the fuel. |

Re: No crank help
Ok I'm confused. You said it wouldnt stay running, then said that the check engine light is on when it runs? I thought you meant you could keep it running? How long is it running? If never more than a couple of seconds then I'd say it is VATS.

Re: No crank help
You have to have a running truck with the same computer from what I've seen, but never tried it myself.
