Re: the movie Dazed & Confused 1971 chevy
I live in a very small town in rural Northern Utah. North Summit High School class of '76 had 61 kids. I can remember still most of the cars everyone had. We had a drag strip marked off on a back road that saw a lot of use. The Sheriff lived in town and had a Deputy assigned to each of the 3 areas that make up Summit County-Kamas, Park City and Coalville, where I live. We knew their schedules and routines and almost never got caught out hot rodding. And when we did, it was like it used to be, dump out the beer and if you were really being out of control, a phone call to the folks. The J.P. owned the laundrymat, so if you did get a ticket, you had to go to Laundrymat Court. Ol' Reed was quite a BS'er, and if you got him to talkin' about fishin' or huntin', and brought him cash money, well, most of the time he wouldn't bother writing out a receipt and we never seemed to lose any points on our driver's licences.
I had a '68 Nova with a 327 and had been converted from 3 on the tree to some kind of Hurst shifter. It was very quick, and would more than hold it's own against most anyone else, even down in Salt Lake. A few guys in town never would put their fancy hot rods up against it, and I still tease them about that. Ronnie had a '62 Vette and Perry a '71 Chevelle SS. Chickens.

The movie hits a note with me too. I was born in 76 and that movie came out my Senior year! We used to hop in my 77 Formula and go see it in the theater and people would spark up in the theater too! Good Times!
