TING noise going from park and drive ?
80 1/2 ton 2 wheel dr. 350/350 stock but mostly all new in the last 4 years. Tranny is the lock up type,is static lowered, flip kit and a cut coil. I do have a bad drum brake that is scarred and is need of a new one but the sound seems to come from the front. Checked u joints which are fairly new, front one has a tiny bit of play. It,s random ting when going from park to reverse or drive, not all the time but more times than not,it,s not a clunk just a ting. I did a quick check but don,t have a day off until Wed. so was looking for other places to look. Doesn,t do it when driving and shifting. Thanks as usual. I,m sure I missed some useful info.

Re: TING noise going from park and drive ?
gm tech bulliten back in the day was go to local food store with $0.25 cents . buy super bouncy ball . install it in the slip yoke and reinstall the slip yoke back in the trans and test drive it .
gm tech told me this many times. otherwise its a worn part some place . and just cause a u-joint looks good and no play dont mean its not all junk inside and ready to fall apart . seen this a few times over the years . i recently drove a g30 camper 20 miles for a friend and no vibe or noise . he scrapped it and i got the rear end . he cut the drive shaft and left the yoke -joint still on the diff yoke. i removed it and there was no play . i took off the 2 caps and it was garbage inside ready to grenade .

That's what I was wondering, if you are parked on a hill when this happens.

I would still look at your ujoints. I think you will find there is no grease in them and the cross pieces are worn .
