Edelbrock carbs.
I was told that Edelbrock and Carter were very similar carbs. Has anyone ever used an Edelbrock? I'm thinking of switching to one from a Carter.

They are basically the same carb,do you have a newer Carter,or is it a old one?i think the Carter is 625cfm,and Edelbrock is 600,i wouldnt switch if theres nothing wrong with yours, they virtually are the same with a different sticker.the new ones are made by Weber

The Carter is about 6 years old. It just spits and sputters when cold. I picked up a newer Edelbrock for 50 bucks and thought I might try it out.

Summit racing, is a very good source for tune up kits and parts for these carbs.

Very few parts are not the same. Most everything is interchaingable...even top and bottom 1/2.
If you already have the carb, slap it on. If you don't like the way it acts, you always have the Carter to rebuild. They are way easy. |

I've used the 1406 for about a year now and it's great. Around town and hauling ass on the Highway.

Only problem I've ever had since swapping to the Edelbrok 1406 was it spit and sputtered. But that was operator error. I let the truck sit for several months and the gas went bad.
I removed the carb a shot a little (actually a lot of) B12 and a drained gas tank later, it ran like new.
