A better oil pressure gauge? (not digital)
Looking for a better oil pressure gauge, that is still 0-60 PSI. Or maybe whatever the stock numbers were. One that is not digital. I made the mistake of buying an autometer one that is 0-100 PSI. As you can guess, it looks like there is never any oil pressure. Because while the gauge is functioning and reading correctly, its just too broad of a spectrum for the needle to ever really move. It does move almost a quarter of the way up, when the engine is cold. But then it quickly settles down to what looks like just above zero.
So I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a good gauge with a needle, that will fit in the stock location. That is like 0-50 or 0-60 PSI. Autometer does have a 0-80 PSI one, but I'm not sure it would be much of an improvement. |

Re: A better oil pressure gauge? (not digital)
Is your mechanical or electric? I'm running autometer guages and they work great. I only use mechanical pressure guages for accuracy. I have a new gm Vortec 350 and my oil pressure ranges between 20 psi (hot idle) to 60 psi during cold start. I pulled these out of a road race car I had and they just happened to be the right size for the truck. I did however replace the tach for an electronic one with vss and a more reasonable speedo. Don't think the K20 will be seeing 160 mph any time soon. Lol

87 model so I guess... electric? Maybe I'll get an 80 psi. At least it would move the needle up some. I read that you're supposed to have 10psi of oil pressure for every 1k rpm. That's for my old tbi 350. But when I switch to a 5.3L, that engine runs somewhat higher oil pressure.
