Do you have original trim rings or aftermarket ? I've had Cibie's in a couple C10's, a Miata, a Conquest TSi, and a couple VW Bugs that all had the original rings and they fit well. The '51 GMC I'm building now had aftermarket headlight bucket assemblies and they weren't as easy to fit together.

Re: Watson Streetworks LED 7”

Thanks for responding.

I think your right, these must be aftermarket. They fit my other headlights but just won't squeeze over these. I think I might try another set and see what happens, or I might be trimming the headlight edge down a tad..

Re: Watson Streetworks LED 7”

Are the Cibies made of glass or plastic?
Also with the 9003 bulbs, will I need a plug adapter or do they just plug in?
If I'm reading this correctly all I need are the Cibies and the 903 bulbs. However Heater63 posted ordering wiring and relays.

They have a metal reflector with a glass lens. A normal H4/9003 bulb is the same wattage as a sealed beam so the stock wiring will work but has voltage drop at the bulb under load from the small wire gauge, distance traveled, and resistance in the switch contacts. They plug directly into the factory headlight plug, no adapter needed.

A relay harness isn't necessary, but it does make sure the bulbs are getting full voltage, which can make a huge difference in brightness. I did a relay harness in our shop's '79 C10 and even with the original sealed beams there was a huge difference in brightness. As the chart shows, it doesn't take much of a voltage drop to really hurt light output. A relay harness can be made so that there's no need to modify the original harness.

Re: Watson Streetworks LED 7”

Here is one of many (hundreds) of schematics if you choose to make your own.

Use the top one.

I was lazy and purchased one from Painless. The one from LMC is pretty inferior in comparison as I have both. CE electric has a nice one as well.

I'm running a military version of the 7" JW Speaker units in my 66. They've made a number of styles over the years for the D.O.D. Hard to beat them in terms of build quality and lighting (usa made). The price is steep tho, and they are a bit "modern" for some peoples tastes.

Re: Watson Streetworks LED 7”

Just in case someone else runs into the headlight retaining ring issue I did, the reman rings from OER fit like a glove. Some of the other stuff I got was just a big POS and was to small to fit around the Cibie. Got another set that the ring screw holes did not line up with factory buckets. Pisses me they can't get such an easy part done right and I have to go through 3 sets before finding one that works same as OEM. Rant off..

Re: Watson Streetworks LED 7”

No its a 2 projector with little side reflectors. I have pics somewhere in my build I think. The heat sinks on them require modification to the light cup, and the wiring has a different style connector and is 24v compatible.
