47-55.1 s10 frame/rim question

Is there an offset/back space combination rim we can use up front to avoid 2" spacers? My 1950 is sitting on a S10 frame.

it would need to be pretty negative offset, or low backspace. here is what a 15x8 with 3.5 inches of backspace looks like without a spacer.

later I did 15x7 with 3.5 backspace on the same truck, still no spacer.

I am custom ordering wheels for the 49 I am working on now, so I will run no spacers on that one too.

I have 5" backspacing with a 2.5" spacer. I had a 3" spacer, but it was too wide and hitting my fender when I turned.

thanks! what a roller coaster, there were actually 4 trucks in that thread, 2 AD and a couple S10 blazers too. I have tried to pare my threads down to only the relevant truck but its not working.

even though he was asking for wheels without spacers, your post is still very helpful, because if he gets an 8 inch wide wheel and gets 2.5" backspace (your 5" backspace - your 2.5" spacer = 2.5" backspace) then it will look just like yours! good info to add man!

also, its is important to point out that backspace does not translate to different wheel widths, a 9" wide wheel with 2.5" backspace will stick out an extra inch compared to an 8" wide wheel with 2.5" backspace. same backspace, different fit.

Yes, I should have clarified, that was my intent. I searched for a rim that would work without a spacer, and without a custom built one (may not even be possible/look super funky) it wasn't going to happen.

And I agree with the width comment, I guess I was referring to overall width, not rim. I had may hours with string dangling with a washer and a tape measure and pages of sketches & "simple" math...

Thanks guys. I'm wondering if these will work with a 2"spacers on the front and a 4wd rearend on the back.

"two 18 x 9, 5.25 back spacing, two 18 x 8, 4.5 back spacing. Both 5 on 4.75 bolt pattern. Tires are 225/45/18 and 245/45/18"


Any input would be appreciated.

should work a treat.

5.25 backspace on a 9 inch wheel is a +5 offset, the mounting surface will be 5mm from the center of the wheel. 4.5 backspace on an 8 inch wheel is a zero offset, the mounting surface will be at the exact center of the wheel. should work very well depending on how low you want the truck to be.
