Need help/advice

Putting a rebuilt 4.8 from a 2000 Silverado into an 85 c10. Test fit it and everything is good. Got it all put together and went to put the flywheel on yesterday and the bolts were really tight.

Heres the rundown:

Motor had manual trans with the crank that had the fat flange. Bought a reman crank with short flange. Got a dish flywheel and bolts from a 4.8 truck motor a friend had. Also got the self centering ring and it fits like its supposed to. The problem is the 6 bolts are VERY tight. I can get them in about half way and Im afraid ill damage the threads. My question is is this normal for them to be this tight? Am I over cautious? Should I just crank them down and torque to spec? Will some ARP torque lube or oil help this problem?

Yes I cleaned out the bolt holes for dirt and junk.

Get you a tap and tap those threads, they should not be hard to put in.

Re: Need help/advice

Yes I checked the length and I'm confident I have the right bolts. M11x1.5 is what I have and supposed to fit. I guess go with the tap. What size tap will I need to get?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Need help/advice

11x1.5 is the bolt dia and thread pitch....what is the length that you have? They should be about 7/8" long
The tap you'll need is 11x1.5
