Oil and temp gauges

If I am using autometer oil and temp sending units for my autometer gauges in the dash can I exchange them for the originals on my 2004 avalanche 5.3 LS motor or do I have to keep the originals so they plug into the wiring harness and add mine some other location?

Re: Oil and temp gauges

Your oil and temp senders and dash gauges are not needed in the LS harness...the ecm does need the temp sender in the front drivers head...most use the temp sender hole in the pass head for the dash gauge and the oil sender goes at the back of block just like a smallblock...but it's a metric thread so you'll need a adapter...

Re: Oil and temp gauges

I have the adapter already and installed the oil gauge in the back of the block. I will leave the temp gauge in the normal spot and locate the autometer temp sender to the passenger head. Thanks for your replies this really helps.

electrical gauges. I left the temp gauge on the 5.3 hooked up and installed an autometer temp sender on the passenger side head for the dash gauge and installed an autometer oil sender in the original oil sender location on the back of the motor for my dash gauge.
