Re: 3-Time Blazer Owner, 1st Time 1st-Gen Buyer - Thoughts on Real World Prices?

I think $30k isn't totally unreasonable. It is not the style i personally would like (i would prefer a more stock vehicle. But i think $25-30k isn't unreasonable as the car seems to be well done for the particular style the owner was going for.

I'm dong a frame off restoration on mine, and i will do a non-correct upholstery job with my interior. The stock seats will have ultra leather instead of vinyl with contrast stitching. I'm considering changing color on the seat belts to be the same as the contrast color. My truck is original orange, and i'm keeping that color. The contrast color in the interior is the same orange.

I will install some invisible items. Under the floor carpet and in the doors i will install sound deading and heat reflecting mats to reduce road noise. I will spray a line-x like material on the underbody to protect it. But in all other aspect the car will be as original as i can make it.

With labor i expect to be $40k into my truck including the cost of the truck. I don't know if i will get that back, but i think so.

my point is that if you like how the truck looks and you want that look then $30k is in the ballpark. I have also tracked prices for the past few months and i think $25k is a good deal, $30k is reasonable assuming the truck otherwise is okay. I personally don't care for the interior choices, but that isn't that hard to get back to stock.

Well boys and girls...it's a done deal. Thanks for all the feedback! I ended up snagging the truck for $22k including about $5k in spare parts. A couple panels need some alignment tweak as many of you have called out, but all in all it's an amazingly original rust-free example with a super modern power train. Happy to join the club!
