Fuel Filler Neck

Good morning all,

I am going to be converting to a rear Boyd tank and had a question. My truck is painted, so I don't want to fill in the existing filler hole. I have read that some just cut the neck off of the tank and use it as a non-functioning filler to keep the look and fill the hole. My tank is pretty new, so I hate to cut the neck off when it is usable to someone else. What is everyone using?

With the help of google, I found an idea.

I'm thinking something akin to this. I don't really want to tack and pucker the paint, so I think adding a backing plate to the Boyds filler neck and using the rubber grommet to hold it in place would work perfect. The cap will not allow the plug to be pushed through the grommet. This might work perfect.
