I got mine off of E-Bay for $99+$10 shipping. They were here in about 2 days also....and they sound GOOD with the CDT 6.5" comps in there!!!

I had custom kick panels made, and truthfully, you need some small speakers in the dash to make it perfect.

i was gonna have a set of 6.5" composite speakers in the qlogics. and a set of 3" tweeters in teh dash

6.5" speakers won't fit. The absolute biggest size outside the frame that fits is 6.25". Now saying this, it's best to measure what you have to see how big it is. Also, the kick panels have places for small tweeters.

Eric, I have kickers best component set with 6.5"s and 1" tweets in the kick panels. With tweets up top, it might be better. I plan on using some small 3.5"s or somthing like that.

I got my pair from ZEB audio. They are about $50 cheaper than anyone else. Their website is www.thezeb.com. Hope this helps. And everyone is correct, 6.5" woofers won't fit.

Several companies make 6" midbass speakers. I am using Rockford Fosgate in my kickpanels. They work out to exactly 6.25" outside the frame. Different manufacturers will have different measurements. You can't really go by the size they call them to determine what it will actually be. Best thing is to find some you like, take them out of the box and measure them to see if they will fit. I think with a 6" speaker, you would be on the safe side.

I've got them in my truck and they are pretty nice, I didn't like the junk plastic grills they came with. My kids gave them the blues!! I've got Blaupunkt components in mine and they sound good. I trimmed down their grills to fit, put them in with a little clear silicone and it looks great. Put extra insulation behind them to get better sound quality and eliminate rattling.

The grilles that came with mine aren't plastic. A thin metal, yeah. For sure, you need to learn how to not kick them. I don't let kids ride in my truck so I don't have this to worry about.

I agree on the insulation. One thing everyone needs to remember here. The kick panel speakers are not subwoofers. Their sole purpose is to bring life to the music. If you are putting in some small woofers trying to overcome a poorly designed speaker system, you are wasting your time. Find a good midbass speaker to go in them, along with a good tweeter. The difference is unreal in sound quality. I love mine even if they do have cheasy grilles.

what i want to do is:

2x 3"-3.5" speakers in the dash
2x 5.25" component speakers in the qlogics
2x good after market 4x10" in stock location
2x 10" subs behind seat

i figure i can have the qlogic speakers and subs powered by an amp each, and have the dash and rear speakers hooked up right to the deck.

I know most wont agree but I wouldnt waste the time or the money on the dash speakers. They are too small to put any real power to and if you run them off your deck there is nothing to protect them from bass which they will need. Dont want to cut your doors? I have 5.25" kickpanels, 6*9's in doors and in the cab corners and it sounds awesome.

i have 6x9's in the doors right now. the previous owner put them in there. i was always kicking them and they were crappy and the rubber surrounds blew finally on them.

i am still deciding on the dash speakers. if i were to get them, it would be a lot of highs in the truck.

with a loud truck you will be glad you have a lot of treble... the two tens will probly satisfy you for your base. If I was in your position I would put the spaekers in the dash... it'll give a more dynamic sound than if you just have the qlogics on the floor.

I dont see a need for the dash speakers. Also dont under estimate little speakers. I had a pair of 1" kicker r25 (or where they r26) tweeters on a 250a2 fosgate amp with 1 12" Power DVC on a bd500 and heard all of my music, it didnt have any mid fill, but for what it was at its building stage, it was excellent, no over powering of the treble at all.

Also, I have never liked the tweeters down love, i like em either higher in the door or on the a-pilars to bring the highs up more. But that is just me.

Tweeters are the most directional speaker of all. They need to be aimed at the listeners ears to get the most benefit. This is why I put the ones in my rear box where I did.

I agree on dash speakers. I wouldn't waste my time or money. They don't produce good sound too me pointing straight up like that. All sound except for the lows, need to be aimed toward you.

With my Qlogics and this, I couldn't ask for a better sound. There is another pair just like this behind the drivers seat.

oc, if your putting the tweeters in the dash, just get some passive, inline, bass blockers from any good audio place. They'll cut the bass to the tweeters from the head unit. They're like $10 each.

i thought that the tweeters in the dash were supposed to bounce off of the windshield and into your face???

anyway, i should be good with the 5.25" and tweeters in the kickpanels, the 4x10's in the back and 2 10's behind the seat.

Those bass blockers also take away power, which is already going to be low coming from a headunit. One of the easiest ways to blow a speaker is by underpowering it

Tweeters in the dash would be fine but I'm guessing you will be using a co-ax speaker which will have a 3-1/2 mid. Thats just too small to run without using a x-over, if you decide to do the 3-1/2's do yourself a favor and listen to the stereo with just those speakers playin and you'll hear what I mean. if you do the q-logics...you won't need dash speakers IMHO...I have the q-forms in my '88 and our new Kicker SS componets, and a ported L78" behind the seat....more than enough, IMHO...

why not just put 6x9's instead of the 4x10's? i know itr extra work but it is prolly worth it

oc, what type of 4x10's are u looking at? Kenwood, Pioneer, Kicker??? Audiobahn has some new ones out that look pretty good. I'm looking for some too. The more I google "4x10 speakers", the more I find. Alot of brands I never even heard of, make these size speakers. Lanzar, Earthquake, VOLFENHAG, Soundstorm...
