what tire size?

i wanna get some nitto 555's for tires...

but would a 255/45/17(fronts) and 275/40/17(back) look to small on only a 4/6 drop?

i wanna drop it down and make it a 5/7 drop later on(this year maybe?)

i only have 2 tires for my 17's right now, and they are 275/50/17's.
i would use those for a while till i could afford matching rear tires.

or i could get the nitto 450's in the following sizes:

255/50/17
275/50/17

Eric, your not gonna' like this but IMHO the 275/40/17 is just too short for a full size truck.

If you want, in the morning I can get some pics of some take-off 275/40's up against my beaters 255/70/15's & my 74's 295/40/20's so you can see just how much shorter they are. That size is fine on my GF's T/A, but not on a truck.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

when i had my 17's i had 275/40 on front and 285/40 on rear, i agree with scoti, they were a little too short in my opinion. they still looked pretty good with a 5/7 but with an inch more of gap like you will have i think they would look wrong. if i was getting another set of 17's i'd go with something around 27-28 inches tall, not 25-26

IIRC Eric, you're going to put the TTII on your truck, right? If so, why don't you do like Mike, and get 255/50 17's (27" tall) should look just perfect

Does anyone know of a site that you could type in a tire size and it will tell you the overall height?

Here's one.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Here's another page of useful info. It will let you use a calculator to figure out a lot of stuff, including tire diameter.

I've got 275/60/17 on the rear of my truck with a flip kit. They are about 30" tall. I think they look better with a little meat (sidewall) on them .

man, if i get those nitto 450's in the 255/50/17's, thats ONE MORE thing that i'm coping off of mike.

well, i had the flip kit first mike!!!

only reason i was asking about the lo-pro tire size was because i was wanting to run some nice drag radials(nitto 555r's) and they dont come in anything bigger.

Why drag radials? These trucks have enough room to run meat.

BFG's hook harder, period. Trust me, I'll be running a 325/50 15" BFG Drag Radial on the back of my truck, on a 15"x10" rim with 5½" BS. Trust me Eric, either run 255/55 17's all around, or 255/50 up front with 255/55 out back.
