Another EFI fuel tank thread.. Square body blazer tank questions or other options
Hi guys working along on the blazer and as always projects get spendy im trying to save where i can .I see a bunch of people posting the TBI tanks out of the 87 - 91 square body blazer and burban fit in the frame.
Not sure but from doing my due diligence and searching and reading before posting some say you have to move x memebers , that would suck as the frame is powdercoated already and body is mounted so i would love to avoid that. A: Do they fit between the rails and x-members ( i should just order one but thats 4 days away from my parts store and im trying to work on it this weekend :sadface B: does the factory filler neck fit to the tanks filler without having to hack the tank ( again trying to be efficient ) C: Pictures or links to build threads would be awesome after two hours of searching tonight plus hours other days im getting a headache lol Worst case ill have to either suck it up and order a tank from Boyds ( i would like a larger then stock tank as it will more then likely be getting a few trips south and 19 gallons isn't alot of fuel ) Thanks Mike |

I have one sitting on the garage floor, but I haven't attempted the installation yet. If you'd like I can get measurements for you - that might help you decide.
Here you go: It measures approximately 26.5 wide X 27 long X 11.5 tall. The fuel filler is on the opposite side, but I'm going to turn it around and see how close it is when I get to installing mine. Last edited by truckster; 02-04-2017 at 06:49 PM. |

Re: Another EFI fuel tank thread.. Square body blazer tank questions or other optio
I know this doesn't help. I sold my Jimmy years ago and now have a Suburban. I installed a home brew injection setup with a 40 gallon fuel tank out of a square body Suburban.
In my case, the fuel filler is on the wrong side of the fuel tank and slightly different diameter. Most people probably wouldn't notice if the tank was installed backwards but it does have a taper on the bottom. I chose to relocated the filler neck and give me the correct angle for my truck. I also removed the crossmember and bought a second. Installed them back in the frame facing each other which made perfect supports for the square body tank straps.

Thanks guys . Sounds like I'll order up a tank the measurements seem to look fine for what I need . I don't mind it looking slightly off most will never crawl under the truck to chirp me I hope lol. I'll order one up Monday and post my install attempt results
Apreciate it , Thanks Mike |

You could also use a Jeep Wrangler tank (87-98 I believe) which can be installed by adding a piece of angle iron to hold it up as it fits between the framerails and has a lip around the edges to support it. The tank is baffled already so that helps. I purchased the full setup (new tank, sending unit, etc.) and not sure I will use it. I may be selling the whole kit. PM me if you are interested in it.

For an 89-90 fuel tank you'll have to modify the rear crossmember where the tank goes
