Excessive engine angle?
So, using the ECE clamshell style motor mounts and the ECE transmission crossmember, I have a 7 degree nose up engine mounting situation. Aesthetically, I don't like the look of the engine at that angle. I cannot raise the tranny because it will hit the trans tunnel. It seems like there is room to lower the front of the engine before the front crossmember comes into play. I am running the CTS-V oil pan. Can the collective post your engine degree numbers and what mounts you are using? I am especially interested in those that are using the CTS-V oil pan. I am thinking of switching motor mounts if I can find something that puts the engine around 3 degrees nose up. Thanks in advance.

Re: Excessive engine angle?
I used the ebay adapter plates and stock sb mounts...mine sits dead on 3deg...with a truck pan.....
Tunnel mods are not uncommon when doing these swaps... You need to check the angle of your rear diff...that's the angle your engine trans centerline should be...except opposite..

Re: Excessive engine angle?
Hi Mongo, with your setup, did you have to mod your tranny tunnel? My rear differential is at 5 degrees currently but I can adjust that to 3 degrees with shims so I would like to get the engine sitting right and adjust the rest to match.
Thanks |

Re: Excessive engine angle?
I'll be watching and waiting to see how this turns out. I bought the same ECE frame mounts and their ECE trans crossmember. I'm nowhere close to dropping my engine in yet. Reason I went with them is they say it will allow the stock low mount AC compressor.
I also recently bought the Dirty Dingo adapter plates, not the sliders, and they also have a low mount AC bracket with a Sanden compressor. Steve, I've heard the ECE mounts move the engine too far forward to use the stock engine fan. Any ideas if it will or not? Also, are you using manifolds or headers? Thanks for any info.

Re: Excessive engine angle?
I used ECE c10 front swap kit and trans crossmember. I did have to raise the trans 5/8”. Oh and I put in a 5.3 with a 6l80 trans. Just had to massage the trans tunnel lip at the firewall. At 3 degrees or maybe 4 I can’t remember but its been in for 5 years. No issues and looks good.

I've been following the Speed Engineering thread and they seem to be good. Pics would be great when you can. Thanks Steve.

Re: Excessive engine angle?
I am running the stock 2011 compressor in the stock location with the ECE mounts. Just has to make custom block adapters for the refrigerant lines.

Re: Excessive engine angle?
I used ebay sliding adapter mount plates along with stock SBC perches as well and everything lined up great. There are several guys in my club that have used the same ones on C10 models from my 1960 up the 1987 year models. No trans tunnel issues. Everyone else went with stock pans but I opted for the F-body. There are 2 guys with '85 and '86 models that ended up shimming to correct his pinion angle though.
