stock cooling fan
does anyone run the stock cooling fan on a 5.3 swap? if so does the small block fan shroud work with it?.

I usually run the stock fan. Fits the fan shroud and never had any cooling problems, even with the A/C on.

Thanks I was hoping I could use a stock shroud. I was worried that the fan was a little too low.Is yours from a 6cyl or a small block? I have a champion aluminum rad but I think a shroud will work

Used the factory Fan from the 5.3 with the 1985 SBC fan shroud. Mine fit perfectly but it might depend on the mounting plates you use. I lucked out and got a no-name set off eBay that worked but do not remember the vendor.

I used the 6.0 clutch fan in my 1968 suburban
I would replace the thermostat clutch as I did have mine go bad. It wouldnt engage and pull air.

Thanks for the info. glad to know it should work. i have the wires for the electric fans but i would just rather go this way if it works
