47-55.1 Carburetor Identification and good resources

Hello I am new to forum and a new owner of a 55 1st series 3100.

Can some one give me a way to identify my carb.

Just a thought, I know other forums like thesamba for Volkswagen have identifications and specs for all early models and parts listed on the sight, am I missing it here?
Is there a source that you guys can send me too for technical resourcing?
Websites that have good how too's?

The GM Heritage Center is a great place to get original specifications for your truck. You can find a '54 Chevy truck shop manual online as well.

Rochester carburetors originally had stamped numbers which can be used for identification. There are many resources on the 'web to help with the task. The first step is to identify whether or not you have a one, two, or four barrel carburetor. You can post the numbers here or you can use Google to look up web sites that will help with identification.

Thanks 1project2many for those resources I appreciate that.
So I took it off and cleaned it up. I finally could see it clearly it is a Carter YF. I have what I need now to order the rebuild kit and pedestal gasket.
Bugger is leaking at all gaskets.

A few good clear reasonably high resolution photos of the carb will help us help you ID the carb.

I'd agree that Mike's carburetors is a good source for info and a good source for parts as they have fresh kits that work and haven't been sitting on a shelf for years.
