Funny - on some automotive forums they'll flame you for reviving ancient threads. Then they'll flame you if you don't do a search for old threads. You can't please everyone - or anyone. Glad this group isn't that way.

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
HAHA well the MOTO forum that I get on will have people losing their minds when someone searches for threads then comments on it. I was hoping it wouldn't be that way here. But I also don't care either lol.

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
Im curious as to how many of you really follow the whole scrub line thing?
Im about to install a 4" drop axle with 15" rims, this will be putting my axle to ground clearance at 3" Is this too little, or what do you guys think? should i have gotten the 3" and paid $400 more for the lowering springs? just wondering what you guys are running on what size wheels. who else has a low axle? (lower than scrub line) |

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
I personally don't want to learn the hard way about scrub line problems, since I'm running 15" wheels and don't plan to go bigger than 15 or 16".

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
I have a 3" dropped axle and when I mock up my old 15" wheels it looks right on the edge. Because of this I will probably look for 16". Like you I would rather not take the chance and slide down the street with no control should a wheel go flat. how is the rear scrub line with a 3" block? I have mine temp installed and it also looks like the ubolts/spring perch may contact before the wheel. Love the stance on the truck by the way and the red wheels!

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
Nice stance, can you tell me do you have 3" lowering leafs all around and can you tell me are those 15" or 16" wheels? I essentially have the same setup with lowering leafs all aournd but no wheels and cant decide if I can get away with 15s or need to go to the 16s to keep the scrub line clear on the front. With the size of wheels on the truck does the scrub line clear?

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
I haven't seen a 3" dropped leaf, 2.5 inch is the most I have seen. Do you have a link to it? So, both front and rear you have 3" lowering leaves with the 2" more in the rear with a lowering block and 3" lower in the front with the dropped axle. So theoretically it's 6" lower in the front and 5.5" lower in the rear?

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
Brian,
I purchased my springs from Posies Rods and Customs but have seen them offered elsewhere. They state that they will drop more after 6 months or so and be about 3" overall. I dont have my cab or bed on but based on the reduced arch compared to the stock springs it seems to be a significant difference. http://www.posiesrodsandcustoms.com/...truck-springs/ Don |

Re: pics of your lowered straight axel 3100
Thank you so much Don, that is the stuff I need to hear. I can't wait to assemble my frame with the new springs and dropped axle and I want to have a good I idea of how it will look as I make my choices.
I don't want mine quite that low so I am thinking the three inch dropped axle and stock front springs and three inch dropped rear springs is the direction I am going. I kinda want it more than that but maybe 4" total would be a max so if there is a front spring that drops it only an inch or so that would be what I would use. Now you got me wondering if I should just get these springs and no dropped axle! 3" is not quite as much as I want but darn it, that is getting close. But the education I am getting from you guys is priceless, thank you so much! Brian
