The dreaded what's it worth thread.

I'm looking at a 60 Apache. Short bed stepside. Totally apart but all there minus the windshield. Solid truck. 2 areas of need are the upper window header on the pass side and some minor floor work. The drivers door at the front bottom has a 4" area that will need replaced. The front of the hood between the scoops(?) Whatever you call them needs repaired. The pass. Door, all the fenders, grill, bed, steps, tailgate are all good. I didn't take any pictures as it's just a pile of parts. It comes with the stock frame in great shape with an 81 front crossmember and a 2005 short bed rolling chassis.
The guy is wanting to trade me for my Hudson roller. I value the Hudson at 4 grand. What are your thoughts? Am I losing in this deal? I'm currently building my 65 so it will be stored or maybe even flipped. I do figure this would sell quicker than the Hudson.

I'm not well versed in these older trucks so any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Re: The dreaded what's it worth thread.

I would be leary of trading a roller for a "pile of parts". For you to accurately estimate the true dollar value of this trade you should consider the time and trouble. How much work is involed in the exchange? Do you plan to assemble the pile of parts into a more appealing package in order to resell them? Will you need a trailer?
I have a pile of parts in my own garage that I wish I never made and I'd be happy to trade them for an assembled vehicle. Big ideas come cheap. Unfortunately for me, I didn't have the experience needed to accurately estimate my time and budget and should have left "well enough" alone.

Good points. It would certainly need some assembly to make it sale worthy. Part of me would like to keep it and build it but I've got other projects and swapping one for another gives me pause.

That windshield area rust would lower the price considerably for me( zero welding skills) you would possibly need a donor cab for repair. Lots of potential work.

No rust in the windshield area. Its above the pass. Door but not in the roof.

So the rust is in the cab above the door? Pictures would help. I personally would value the parts/truck at less than $1000, because of the damage, time to reassemble and not knowing what’s missing.

I think for that kind of money or for a few dollars more you could buy a nice desert truck In one piece

Re: The dreaded what's it worth thread.

So the fact it's a 60 with that rare hood and grill doesn't have any bearing here? Thanks for helping me confirm what I guess I knew when I made this thread .

Thanks again Merry Christmas all.

Sure it does. It will cost double to get any parts.

At least you wouldn't have to spend the time taking it apart for a restore!

Then you can spend all of your time figuring out where everything goes because you’re not the one that took it apart

I do however think that the guy is asking to much $$ for a pile of parts.
