Windshield install

Got my new windshield in! Lots of other small goodies in the mail too, including seals for the rest of my glass.

The rope install videos look pretty straightforward. The only difference I see is people using or not using some sort of adhesive.

Should I buy some? Squirt some in pinch weld spot and glass to rubber spot? Or do without? I thought this type of seal didn't need it. Thoughts?

it just so happens I was cruising through the assembly manual looking for details on hinges when I saw this

looks like they did use some sealing material after the windshield was installed. I have never used it, except a little polyurethane in the lower corners on the last AD because of the seal wrinkling.

and, I havent ever noticed any sealant on any windshield I have ever taken out, so take that with a grain of salt too.

Good point. And most of the aforementioned installation videos use no sealer either.

I have seen sealant guns with very small needle tips that fit behind the rubber seal. If you have leaks that's probably the way to go, instead of having goopy sealer to contend with during your installation.
