Best battery for 64
I recently purchased a 64 C-10.
The battery was very weak, and was definitely not the right one, as it was just plopped in. What battery group was originally in these trucks, and is there a newer, or better size available? Also I was thinking of a side terminal battery, as I feel it will make a cleaner looking engine compartment. Any comments or suggestions |

Re: Best battery for 64
Your local parts store has a website where you can search for parts based on your vehicle. This isn't a secret and will provide more accurate info than you'll get from 50 opinions from the internet.

Re: Best battery for 64
I used to have a Caddy with a side post battery and I always found it to be a p.i.a because you couldn't roll with the terminals only half ways kinda tight. It had to be firmly tightened with a 3/8 wrench or it wouldn't crank...i don't like my terminals to be so tight that i cant yank 'em loose in the event of a wiring short....it happened once on my c10....my ignition switch on my later model g.m column had a wire pinch up under there while i was working on it and nasty smoke started billowing. Thankfully i was able to disconnect the battery in a hurry by yanking it loose which minimized the damage.
