Rust --- From a spray-can !!!!!

Looking for a patina the easy way ?

I tried a test panel to see how the rust in a spray can works.

Just sprayed a quick base coat of the blue rattle-can, let it dry, then applied a quick couple of quick shots of the rust paint.

The spray pattern coming from the can is horrible, but that is GOOD, in a way, as it is very random.

The color is not quite a brown, it is EXACTLY the color of aged rust.

What do you think ??

I wish I had this as I was trying to make the new ac cover panel look old in my 67 that I put an ac kit in. I think it would have worked well for what I was trying to do.

Okay, I'm confused, why would I want my truck to look like crap?

I'd rather whatever I do to be an improvement, of some sort anyway. But then I've never quite understood the 'patina' crowd anyway. So, ignore me I suppose as I'm rather clueless here...

Nothing worse than fake patina. I do see the need/want to match a panel as HSRACER said but to fake it on a car or truck as a whole is the worst.
