With Vintage Air systems, are you guys running an RPM cutoff switch?
I am using the Sanden compressor in Holley's midmount accessory drive system and i know a lot mention an rpm cutoff switch. There is even a paper in the compressor box talking about it. The compressor in the Holley kit is the SD7B10. I am just curious though because when you go off the Sanden service guide data, it specifically states that that specific compressor is rated at 6500 constant rpm's and a spike of 9300. Just seems like nothing external should be needed given that data.

I ran a Sanden on a supercharged 5.3 and spun it as high as 6,500-7,000 and never had any issues.

Likewise man! My build has taken forever but i am hoping to start making some good traction here soon. Have a ton of parts, now just need to make the time to get it finished up. Good to hear on the compressor. It really seems like everything should be fine without the cutoff.

You fail to take into account pulley diameters when considering RPM. I dont remember the exact numbers, but I think I figured something like a 2:1 ratio, the AC compressor will spin 2 times for the cranks every 1 time.
So if you have a similar pulley ratio and run the engine to 6000 your compressor will spike at 12000. |

You can always do what we used to do in the good old days, just shut the A/C off if you're going to flog it. At least that's what I do...

I think that may be the approach I take. This truck is going to be a cruiser and not a drag vehicle. If I get the wild hair to beat on it I will just make sure the ac is off. Lol

I am installing a high rpm/wot switch on mine. That way it's done right and if someone else is driving the truck (like my tuner), I don't have to worry about it.
