Wrong fitting for AN PTFE?
This morning I was going to run my fuel lines from my rear mount tank. I had researched a while to order all the correct parts but I may have the wrong ends for the hoses. I'm using -6AN PTFE braided s/s line. This is the fitting I thought would go on the hose ends to attach the line to the fittings on the pump, corvette regulator/filter and fuel rail (returnless). I thought there was supposed to be a two piece end that threaded onto the line? Or Have I got half of what I need?, missing the collar that goes on the hose first?
(By the way when I am done I'm going to make a thread listing all the parts I used because it sure has been a confusing process) |

Re: Wrong fitting for AN PTFE?
What you have is the twist lok fittings...personally I wouldnt use those on a high pressure system...
I think what your wanting is https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-r10023b But you'll also need the gm style pushlocks to -an for the fuel rail and vett filter reg

Re: Wrong fitting for AN PTFE?
Make sure you buy the fittings that are matched to the line you are using. They should be used as a set, if you mix and match fittings and line you could have all kinds of problems with the different variations between the two.
The fittings you linked in post 4 wont work on PFTE line, they work on the following. Russell ProClassic Russell ProClassic II Russell ProFlex Russell ProRace All of these lines are essentially braided rubber of some kind and not PFTE. What brand and model of line are you using? |

Re: Wrong fitting for AN PTFE?
Please be careful with those push to connect rail adapters that use the clear plastic retainer. Years ago there was a rash of engine fires (a whole slew of threads on LS1tech for anyone interested in the carnage) all due to a mfg/design defect with those fittings.
The way the inner plastic retainer was made did not lock as tightly as it should, and some were known to disconnect while the engine was hot or running, creating fires if the fuel leaked onto hot surfaces or built up vapor. I myself had it happen AT a gas station and probably avoided turning my truck into a bomb by about 30seconds. (immediately noticed a fuel leak and shut down before the manifolds could get warm.) They released a different design with a physical locking retainer, but never issued a recall or safety notice. If you are using this type of fitting, just be cautious you aren't using the old designs. They may have been reissued or corrected, but its unclear as the mfg never admitted to the fault in the first place.

Do you know how to tell the different design connectors apart? Gm has used this style for years, I dont know why they would be made different in the aftermarket.

Re: Wrong fitting for AN PTFE?
644120 & 644110 were the part #'s that had a rep for failure. They were replaced with the screw-on retainer ones. The issue was particular to the actual plastic inner locker and the way it engaged the fitting and the line. Other companies didn't have the particular issue, and it may have been corrected, but like I said, no wrong doing was admitted so they may still exist on the market.

Re: Wrong fitting for AN PTFE?
Here is a list of part numbers for the screw together fuel injection fittings.
These are Russell part numbers and can be searched for on any parts supplier or on google. Blue -6 AN Male to 1/4”
Black -6 AN Male to 1/4”
A complete list of fuel injection fittings can be found HERE |

Re: Wrong fitting for AN PTFE?
Sprint, it looks like the screw fittings are using the old part # from the other fittings. The screw ones were my preference. Based on that I'd guess they don't sell the one that caused issues ~2009-12

I also wanted to add everything you will need for the Vette filter/regulator. You need 1 each of the following. 644113 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-644113 644123 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-644123 640940 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-640940 Last edited by sprint_9; 03-12-2019 at 07:00 PM. |
