Sudden LQ4 problem??

Wanted to give you guys an update and thanks for the help. I believe I have the problem narrowed down to the Dakota Digital BIM module that is feeding data for my gauges. I could not get around the fact that everything worked perfect while the tuner was hooked up to my truck, (which made the gauges inoperable because he was using the obd port). I pulled the plug on the gauges drove it everything is fine, plugged it back in and went back to shifting crazy and fuel pump cycling. Called them up and apparently he sent the info to the engineers and they had me change one setting and everything is fine for now. He said this setting shouldn’t be enabled for my application but for whatever reason it’s fixed the problem. They said they had never heard of trans issues being caused but the fuel pump cycling randomly wasn’t new news to them.

Gotta love any "plug and play" part which can malfunction OTHER systems on the car...

They had me go in and enable the “boost” setting on the BIM module. All it does is allow it to monitor boost psi, which is pointless on my bone stock engine.

Yeah I never would have dreamed it could essentially override the pcm! If I have any more problems I’m gonna just run senders and hardwire it in.

Thanks for this info. I just wiring and was testing and having the same problem with my fuel pump. I was chasing my tail checking grounds, watching the trigger line apply voltage etc...

I changed the boost setting to on and it cycles correctly now.

No problem man, glad it helped someone. It sure was aggravating not being able to find any information on what was going on. I also found out from DD there is an updated BIM that’s supposed to fix any issues and automatically change those settings per your application. My fuel pump would still cycle one extra time even after I changed the boost setting. If your BIM is software version 0.18 it’s not the current version. They sent me a new updated unit with a prepaid stamp to send the old one back and no issues at all now .

EDIT: So I checked my firmware version I do have 1.8. I emailed tech support and they told me to turn off boost and gear position. I went ahead and switch gear position to off but left boost on. The fuel pump seems to operate correctly. I will see once it starts in a few months.
