78 big 10 gear lube capacities?
I need to get a service manual but does anyone have the approximate lube capacity for the 4 speed manual trans (SM465?) and the 78 factory differential? Just need to know how much to buy.

I just changed mine a few months ago. I took about one gallon to the bottom of the fill hole. I think the true capacity is just a bit over 1 gallon, but I have a leak at the front of the transmission, so I will have to top it off periodically.
I got the cheap 80-90 at Autozone, since I am cheap and the truck is old and leaking the stuff. |

Thanks ! I am doing the differential this weekend because the cover is leaking. I will get the transmission another time.
