Billet hood hinges
Anybody have experience with billet hood hinges?
I need new ones and they sure do look nice.

Re: Billet hood hinges
Along with the $$ and maybe more important do they fit in with the whole build plan for the truck?
If you are running billet rims, have billet dress up items on the engine and in the interior head on but if the truck has wide whites an hub caps and a roll and pleat seat with a more traditional dash treatment and painted chromed or cast items on the engine they most likely will stick out like a sore thumb. With the best looking builds no matter what was spent on them the builder had a plan and stuck to that plan with every component on the truck fitting into the total theme of that plan.

Re: Billet hood hinges
I bought a pair from Eddie Motorsports for my 53 1/2 ton. I have a lot of billet parts in the engine compartment and the rest of the truck. They are beautiful but if I remember right they were about $650.

STICK WITH A THEME! It doesn't have to be mind blowing complex but the more defined it is, the better the build. Nothing makes me shake my head more than looking at some flat head powered 50 Merc custom with a chopped top and then 68 T Bird wrap around rear seat and a Billet steering wheel! WTH were they thinking? And themes can make that build FUN. Make it a 70's Hot rod like you had in highschool without a thing on it that you wouldn't have had, Ansen mags, Edelbrock valve covers, an 8 track under the dash, have fun! A full on radical custom with billet this and that and 22 inch wheels, with an LS, right on, it's all good, just stick with a theme. On those hinges, I do have to say that I have only installed one pair in my life..it was on a 68 Camaro. I tried and tried and tried and tried to align that hood, it was a mess, never did get it right, they were removed and stock hinges installed. Brian

Re: Billet hood hinges
I have the Eddie Motorsports pair for my 58 Cameo, only took them out of the box and checked them out just to see what they looked like, So far I like them,But, have not gotten to the part of adjusting them yet. They are pricy, but think they will look great once installed.

Re: Billet hood hinges
Great info. I know what you mean about the theme of the build.
I have lots of aluminum and a full custom build. I think I will try the Eddie Motorsports hinges.

Re: Billet hood hinges
I have the Eddie Motorsport hinges on my '51 and I am disappointed. They have been on less than a year and the hood falls down constantly. I'm not sure if the struts are undersized or just failed already.
When I called they just offered to sell me another set of struts.

Re: Billet hood hinges
Now that is disappointing to hear. Any other manufactures standing behind their product?
